I've seen a few episodes on the first season and now I’m watching the second, what happened to Sam, the homeless guy??
Answer:
Basically in the premiere episode, Molly just says it didn't work out with her and Sam. If he were around, there wouldn't be the right kind of conflict, therefore, no story. So adios, Sam.
